DoD Releases CMMC 2.0

The Department of Defense’s (DoD) Commercial Mobile Management for Government (CMMC) program now has documentation available, the agency announced Thursday.

The new CMMC is an update to the original version released in 2009. It contains program management policies, procedures and guidance on performing activities including scheduling events, managing identities/credentials and logging work activity.

“The updated CMMC 2.0 provides a common baseline for mobile device management and security across the Department,” said Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Cyber Policy Charles Phalen in a statement.

The CMMC is meant to provide DoD with a consistent set of requirements for managing and securing mobile devices and apps used by employees.

The program is voluntary, and commercial mobile management providers that wish to do business with the DoD must meet its requirements.
