Project Adventure is a mystery children’s book series that follows the story of a kid-detective agency named ‘Project Adventure’ led by preteens Ethan, Matt, and Lisa. The whole series revolves around the journey of our characters as they go through different places, solve various cases, and meet new people along the way.

Reading the whole series ignited that little spark in my heart which reminded me of how I used to love mystery books when I was just a kid. As a kid, I find that there’s joy in solving out a case and being able to know the answers even before the truth is revealed. We had fun imagining ourselves as little detectives that are part of an organization that solves out bits and pieces from a puzzle piece.

Why is the mystery genre popular and effective for younger audiences?

Mystery is for those that enjoy action, to those that love to analyze things that spark a sense of curiosity inside of us. If you’re a person who loves traveling, going to different places, and periods, mystery books are the go-to genre. A good mystery book allows the reader to experience what it feels like to be on a journey while seated in their respective homes. It is thrilling to be in a position of uncertainty where you need to figure out who did it—who is the mastermind of it all. Nothing beats the feeling of finding out who the real culprit is by yourself without the book spoon-feeding the answer.

Aside from that, mystery books are also great because it encourages kids to use their logical thinking, as well as deductive reasoning for solving problems. It teaches us how to think out of the box and foster our summarization and memorization skills. It encourages kids to look at things in the tiniest detail, and to see things from different perspectives and holistically.

Most plots on mystery literature are also about detectives, spies, students, or even just average characters who are looking for mystery clues to solve a case. Sometimes some touch of fantasy and supernatural are included on it too. Today, mystery has already evolved into a variety of genres. A broad range of topics and settings are incorporated which is a great avenue for eventful explorations and quests that children enjoy reading.

That’s probably the reason why the mystery genre is big for youngsters and teens—mystery, in general, is just plain fun and exhilarating. If you’re looking for a perfect holiday gift for kids, the Project Adventure series is highly recommended! Find your copy on Amazon now.
