Attention Booklovers: Beat Coronavirus Boredom and Come Out to the Virtual LA BookFest on Saturday, May 9th

Get out of the house (virtually, at least) and join book lovers around the world taking part in the LA BookFest online on May 9th. Seize this unique opportunity to not only meet and chat with a full slate of authors, but also to meet and interact with others during the quarantine.

A Much-Needed Distraction in Challenging Times

For book aficionados, avid readers, and all lovers of the written word, the LA BookFest is a desperately needed lifeline and break from the monotony of life in quarantine. Make no mistake though, this virtual festival is set to be just as fun as any physical conference with an A-list literary lineup.

A Full Line-Up of Literary Talent

LA BookFest has been laid out like a convention center, allowing guests to visit different virtual areas of the festival. You can interact in Live Ask an Author Chat as well as watch the stream which includes the opening keynote, conversations and panels. You’ll also get to listen to an array of speakers representing publishing professionals, speakers and some of today’s thought leaders. Speakers will include Mitch Albom, Bob Difornio, Jonathan Maberry, Dan Lothian, Sarah Kendzior, and Danny Trejo, just to name a few. It’ll all be kicked off with an opening keynote by NJ Ayuk, author of Billions at Play, an Amazon number-one bestseller.

Of course, no festival is complete without the booths area. Virtually walk (well, scroll) through the booths to find out about an array of companies and their offerings as well as event sponsors. Or visit the reading room where your favorite authors will read some of their work to you, and maybe even some of their works-in-progress.

So Many Panels

There will be no shortage of panels for the seasoned convention goer. Topics to be covered include:

  • The Allure of the Memoir – Telling the Human Story
  • Integrity in Journalism in the Age of Covid-19, Fake News, and Partisan Politics
  • Power Pitching Your Manuscript or Screenplay – How to Make them Love Your Story
  • The Future of Fiction – What Are People Writing Today for Tomorrow’s Readers?
  • The World Is Getting Closer – How Digital Media Is Changing Society

Don’t Forget the After Party and Beyond

Of course, no festival is complete without an after party. After a full day of speakers, meet-and-greets, and panels, it’ll be time to unwind with your fellow bibliophiles to the musical talents of Brandyn Cross and Kiera Lyons. You’d be forgiven if you thought the evening was over there, but it won’t be quite yet. Instead, there’ll be a surprise guest at the end of the evening to read you a bedtime story.
