Niro EV from Kia
Kia is South Korea’s second largest automaker, overshadowed only by Hyundai. Kia is desperately trying to gain a larger portion of the ‘soccer mom’ customer base in the US with their new Niro EV car. It features an overwhelming plethora of safety devices, not just for passengers but for pedestrians as well. It uses object recognition and motion detection technology, with audio speakers and video, to alert pedestrians who might be in the car’s path, either going forward or in reverse. Inside the car, Kia has installed stress-sensitive seatbelts, which will automatically give way under extreme pressure — thus preventing internal organ ruptures from occurring when unyielding seatbelts are worn during a serious impact.
